Sentiment Analysis of Hotel Reviews

UNIVERSITY OF MARYLAND

TEQuity performed data mining analyses on hotel review data for 900 hotels across the nation.  The our analysis assessed guest sentiment, identified specific areas of concern, and examined year-to-year trends in guest sentiment. The hotel review dataset used in the analysis includes hotel geographical information, review ratings, review comments, and reviewer attributes from 2002 to 2017. TEQuity utilized several algorithms including natural language processing to determine the overall sentiment of both the guest review titles and comments.  The analysis uncovered hotels that are producing lackluster ratings and reviews. The findings will provide hotel owners with information that allows them to target areas of the client experience that need improvement.
